We're hiring Communications and Engagement Managers

MND Australia is looking to hire four part-time Communication and Engagement Managers in contract positions, each covering a grant-funded project in the following areas:

  • CALD resources
  • Dysarthria and speech difficulties
  • MND Connect
  • Self advocacy support

Communication and Engagement Manager – CALD Resources

We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Manager to implement a grant funded project to develop and deliver health information resources for people living with MND from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

The role will engage relevant stakeholders including people living with MND, State MND Associations and CALD communities to identify and prioritise MND information resources most needed by people from CALD backgrounds, coordinate the development, translation, promotion and evaluation of these materials.

If you have highly developed communications and interpersonal skills with a background in working with individuals with MND or experience working with CALD and migrant communities, we want to hear from you.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) contract position until 31 December 2025 ideally based in Canberra.

Communication and Engagement Manager – Dysarthria and Speech Difficulties

Communicating Point is a new initiative that seeks to work collaboratively with people with MND and State MND Associations to co-design innovative information resources, tools and an awareness campaign that will reduce barriers to social inclusion and community participation for people with dysarthria.

The role would suit a Speech Pathologist or Occupational Therapist looking for a role with national impact and tangible outcomes from their work.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:

  1. Project management - planning, implementation and evaluation
  2. Codesign and develop MND-related informational resources
  3. Funding contract reporting and financial monitoring
  4. Data and analytics collation and reporting
  5. Engaging with key stakeholders including facilitating committees and focus groups
  6. Design and implementation of a dysarthria awareness campaign

This is a part-time contract position (0.6 FTE) until 30 June 2026, ideally based in Canberra.

Communication and Engagement Manager – Self Advocacy Support

We’re looking for a highly motivated and passionate Communication and Engagement Manager to develop and implement self-advocacy resources for people living with MND.

The role will work to improve access and navigation of disability, aged and health system supports such as NDIS, My Aged Care, MND multidisciplinary clinics/care, primary and palliative. This will require close collaboration with State MND Associations and the MND Australia team as well as the Lived Experience Network (LEN), to improve the information available and facilitate a ‘one stop shop’ approach to access to this information.

Key components of the role include:

1. Strengthen MND Australia’s capability to develop and deliver self-advocacy activities and support for people living with MND, their families and carers.

2. Development of targeted programs to provide upskilling and capacity-building opportunities for people impacted by MND

3. Equip people with MND, families and carers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to connect with and navigate supports and services that meet their needs

4. Support people with MND to be empowered to ‘speak up’, understand their rights and have greater choice and control.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE) contract position until 15 December 2026 ideally based in Canberra.

Communication and Engagement Manager – MND Connect

Purpose-drive work developing health information resources for people living with MND.

We’re looking for a Communication and Engagement Manager to oversee the ‘MND Connect’ which provides specialist MND information via a national MND Info Line and the MND Connect website.

The MND Connect website hosts a wide range of accessible resources and service information for people living with MND, carers and family, as well as the professionals who support them. The project, now in its final year, will continue to build on, and further develop the website, information resources and the national MND Info Line.

If you have highly developed communications and engagement skills, project management skills and have experience with disability or health related information, we want to hear from you for this part-time (0.8 FTE) contract position until 30 June 2025 ideally based in Canberra.
